~ Where have all the flowers gone? ~

I am very sad to learn of the recent passing of Pete Seeger. My earliest memories of him, are of singing ‘Where Have All the Flowers Gone?’ at my youth group many, many years ago. It was one the of the songs in our little song book. I love this song. I loved that little song book.

Rest in peace, Mr Seeger.

I’ll always wonder why on earth my parents let me go to that youth club. It was run by wonderful, peace-loving hippie, CND type folk. I suspect my parents didn’t realise. I’m glad. I loved it there. We sang songs like this, we folk danced, we ate sweets, talked and went to camp for more of the same.

I took this photograph, while walking around a local town. The town is very beautiful, not that you’d realise from this photo. Until perhaps you notice the beautiful little flower, growing by the rusty old drain pipe. I couldn’t pass by without photographing it.

‘Stay open to the good and hopeful on offer in the world’ (thanks Clare).
